Jessica Pospiech Heltsley

founder

Jessica focuses her practice on helping families positively restructure and move forward during difficult transitions in their lives.  Families who are going through divorce already have enough stress and worry to deal with and Jessica prides herself on being helpful, not hurtful, during the process.

Since law school, Jessica has dedicated her career to family law matters.  When she first started practicing, she was frustrated with the idea of pitting spouses against one another and exacerbating family disputes.  Rather, she always felt it would be better to sit families down and encourage open and honest discussions, problem solving, and collaboration with appropriate professionals to prepare individuals for the next chapter in their lives.  Because of this, Jessica has designed her practice to include methods that diminish conflict and that help clients be intimately involved in their restructuring.

Jessica is collaboratively trained, meaning, one option that clients have when working with Jessica is to utilize the Collaborative Divorce Process.  In this process, both spouses will commit to staying out of court, to utilizing a team of collaboratively trained professionals (lawyers, divorce coach, child specialist, financial neutral, etc.), and they will attend a series of team meetings until all issues are resolved and incorporated into a settlement agreement.

Jessica is also a court-approved, domestic relations mediator.  In this role, she is a neutral, third-party who facilitates discussions between the spouses to help them resolve all issues related to their divorce/custody matters.  Mediation is an out-of-court process and often ordered by most family law Judges.

Born and raised in Michigan, Jessica graduated magna cum laude from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Communications.  Go Lakers!  Despite the crazy amount of snow, Grand Rapids will always hold a special place in Jessica's heart. Thereafter, she graduated magna cum laude from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

Jessica has always enjoyed motivating individuals and was most likely to be awarded the "Spirit" award on her sports' teams in high school.  Therefore, when she became an attorney, family law was the only natural fit, as she is able to guide her clients and provide comfort and encouragement through difficult moments.

Jessica is married to her husband, Robert, who is an industrial engineering manager.  They reside in Lake Orion and enjoy riding their bikes, exploring Oakland County trails, and eating charcuterie all over the world.  Jessica is an exercise enthusiast and her greatest desire is to travel to as many places around the world as possible.

Jessica is admitted to practice in the State Courts of Michigan and is a member of:
